Draft revised Practice Direction 27A – Family Proceedings: Court Bundles (Universal Practice to be applied in the High Court and Family Court)

Sir James Munby, President of the Family Division, has announced that a final approved draft of the revised Practice Direction 27A (which awaits only formal signature by the relevant Minister) is due to come into force on 23 July 2018.

The basic PD27A remains as before but with some minor changes.

The three main changes are:

  1. The introduction of page limits for certain types of document (which can be varied by the judge if necessary in any particular case),
  2. Further requirements in relation to bundles of authorities, and
  3. The inclusion of various provisions making clear that PD27A applies, with certain modifications, to electronic as well as to paper bundles.
