Sandria’s practice focuses on Family Law, particularly in cases involving children.

She came to the Bar after an initial career owning and running children’s day nurseries, and bringing up her own four children. She still owns a day nursery, and it was her experience of working with young children and their parents which inspired her to become a Barrister.

She is passionate about fighting the corner for people who are vulnerable, giving a voice to those who are feeling timid amid difficult circumstances; and her desire to protect the rights and wellbeing of children is at the heart of her approach.

Sandria genuinely enjoys meeting her clients, and prides herself on her ability to build relationships with people. Her prior experience often gives her particular insights into her clients’ circumstances, and she takes a pragmatic and non-judgmental approach.

In addition to Law, Sandria studied Psychology, and her knowledge in this area helps her to read people and identify with their issues. She likes to work collaboratively with her clients’ solicitors, which is particularly valued by more recently qualified solicitors, where her maturity often adds an additional level of reassurance for their clients.

Her approach to Family Law is very human. Whilst protecting the rights of children, she is always conscious of the emotional impact that legal procedures can have on both children and adults. At the same time she is never shy of reminding the adults involved of the realities of their situation – she will not shy away from having tough conversations with her clients, and works collaboratively to support the solicitors she works with in delivering difficult messages when necessary.

Sandria acts in all types of cases involving children in Public and Private Law proceedings – and has specialist experience of cases involving non-accidental injury to children, especially head injuries, broken bones, blood disorders, abnormalities and sexual abuse.

Public Law Children

Sandria is also experienced in working with issues of Jurisdiction.

She prefers to take a long-term, holistic family view of cases where possible, always with the needs and rights of the child/ren at the fore, and will fight for support, assessment and ongoing review of a situation with the aim of enabling children to maintain contact with parents and siblings wherever possible.Sandria has particular experience of cases involving non-accidental injury to children, especially head injuries, broken bones, blood disorders, abnormalities and sexual abuse.

Children - Private Law (CAP)

Sandria’s own experiences, both as a mother and as the owner of a nursery, help her to identify with the issues and concerns held by parents of children in these cases, and her naturally reassuring manner enables her to play a supportive role in the proceedings. At the same time, her clients appreciate her tenacity and determination when fighting their corner on their behalf.

Her consistent attitude towards cases involving children is that the rights of the child are foremost, and Sandria will always provide objective and balanced advice based on this. She is experienced in working on cases which additionally require injunctions against one or other party or may run parallel to other criminal proceedings.

In private law proceedings Sandria also often represents clients where there have been issues of domestic violence or threatening behaviour following a separation, including cases in which allegations of domestic violence or physical, emotional or sexual abuse of a child are made by one parent against the other.
