Paul represented a Licensee in an appeal to the Crown Court under the Control of Advertising Regulations, in a case involving illuminated signs in the window of a micro pub.

Paul raised issues with the case as to defects in the ‘poorly worded’ original summons, and whether the Defendant was aware of the detail of the allegations faced.

The test is to be applied by the Crown Court dealing with an appeal from a conviction in the Magistrates’ Court.
