Long–standing use of agricultural land for parking (Re CF)

Planning

28 November 2023

Paul represented the Local Authority in a Planning Inquiry concerning the use of an extensive site for off-airport car parking.

This long-running case involved a company which had been granted initial permission to use farmland to park 200 cars, and had subsequently extended their multi-million-pound operation to accommodate 1400-1500 vehicles without additional permission.

The case has particularly involved Paul in:

  • consulting and instructing experts in carbon footprint issues
  • examining the environmental impact of using farmland for parking.

It also involves him in dealing with further complications relating to the length of time the business has been operating (over 10 years) without its use of land being challenged, and is ongoing.
