Mum with luxury five-bed holiday home in Florida claimed £50k in benefits

Paul Tapsell recently prosecuted a defendant charged with benefit fraud in excess of £50,000; the jury rejected the Defendant’s arguments that a £400,000 inheritance she had received had been invested in an overseas property on trust for her children. The Defendant is presently awaiting sentence and the commencement of Proceeds of Crime Act confiscation proceedings
