Members of Chambers’ Employment team regularly advise and appear in tribunals and courts in all types of employment and employment-related matters on behalf of employees and employers.

Our Barristers regularly represent clients at Employment Tribunals in Kent, Surrey and London in cases relating to discrimination, disability and unfair dismissal for reasons ranging from pregnancy to injury to alleged criminal behaviour, TUPE transfers, constructive dismissal, maternity regulations and redundancy.

We also undertake employment work in an advisory capacity, and members of the Employment team are available to attend round-table meetings on behalf of employers or employees, and to provide honest and pragmatic advice on the merits of a claim. We aim to assist on an advisory basis at an early stage of any work-place dispute to help avoid litigation. Where proceedings are issued, we can advise our clients (or their solicitor) on the evidence they will need to obtain to support their position, or assist in reaching a suitable compromise settlement.

Our expertise includes:

  • Discrimination (sex, race, disability and age-related)
  • Employment-related human rights
  • Equal Pay
  • European Community Law
  • Injunctive relief
  • Parental rights
  • Redundancy
  • Restraint of trade and breach of confidence
  • Trade union law and industrial relations
  • Transfer of Undertakings
  • Unfair and wrongful dismissal

Members are also available to advise on the drafting of contracts of employment, handbooks and compromise agreements.

Barristers in the Employment Team are also available on a Direct Access basis.
