2022 (Middle Temple)
Law LLB (University of Keele), Master of Laws in Bar Vocational Studies (City St George's, University of London)
Alex joined Becket Chambers as a Pupil in October 2025 and is currently in his first six. He studied Law LLB at the University of Keele before undertaking a Master of Laws degree in Bar Vocational Studies at City St George’s, University of London.
After being called to the Bar of England and Wales in November 2022, Alex worked as a self-employed County Court Advocate. He was instructed by over 50 different firms of solicitors and attended over 500 hearings on the South Eastern Circuit. Alex was also appointed as an Advocacy Manager in December 2024, where he was part of a team that supervises 200 advocates across England and Wales.
As a County Court Advocate, Alex was instructed in a range of civil matters, including personal injury, property and land law, insolvency, commercial law, and contract law. Alex most enjoyed attending small claims trials involving road traffic accidents, allowing him to advance his skills in cross-examination. He also gained experience in dealing with hostile clients, and in supporting the needs of vulnerable or emotional individuals.
He gained considerable experience of managing the pressures of the Court system, including dealing with lengthy proceedings, and the need to manage the demands of multiple hearings.
As a child, Alex wanted to be an actor or professional goalkeeper, and was intensely interested in history. Though his A-level law classes ultimately sparked interest in a career at the bar, he believes his early ambitions reflect his natural affinity for being in a position of responsibility, and his capacity for researching and retaining details.
He enjoys public speaking and desired a challenging career where he could use both his strong analytical skills and his sense of the need to assist people. Always willing to embrace a challenge, while studying for his bachelor’s degree, he chose modules which allowed him to closer study advocacy and litigation. He attended several mini pupillages where he was exposed to varied practice areas and he also took part in marshalling with a Circuit Judge, providing further insight and clarity in his choice to pursue a career at the bar within civil and family law.
As a County Court Advocate, Alex demonstrated his ability to process complex information quickly. He was regularly involved in cases involving people who were vulnerable and at risk of homelessness, he acted with empathy and care in these delicate situations.
As an Advocacy Manager, Alex was responsible for providing legal/ procedural advice to advocates, corresponding with clients, drafting applications, and keeping up-to-date with civil procedure and law. His experience has equipped him with excellent multi-tasking skills, attention to detail, and an easy rapport with clients.
Alex has strong interests in all of Becket Chambers’ areas of practice, especially property and commercial/ contractual disputes.
