Protecting a child from a Mother’s new partner

Private Law (Child Arrangements Programme (CAP))

29 November 2023

Melanie represented a Father who wanted to have his child live with him full time due to concerns about the mother’s new partner. The court agreed with Mel that the risk posed by the Mother’s partner was such that the child should live with the Father and see the Mother for day contact only, minimising the risk of the Mother’s partner attending. There was also a prohibited steps order put in place to ban the child coming into contact with the Mother’s partner.
