Sandria acted for the Mother in a case where the Father was seeking contact, which had diminished due to the wishes and feelings of the children. The oldest child was refusing contact at all.
Sandria’s client had always attempted to maintain communication with Father, but he was unresponsive.
A s. 7 Report confirmed that the eldest child may make their own decision, but recommended a pattern for the younger children involving establishing a contact regime for the future. With Sandria’s support and advice, it was agreed that this should include a degree of flexibility, acknowledging that it is not always possible to set contact arrangements ‘in stone’. The hope was that the Father will place the children’s wishes and feelings above his own desires. It was recognised that open communication which does not infringe or impose on either partner would be a vital element for success in the future.
