Representing a children’s Guardian
Marie represented a Mother who had substance addiction issues, which continued whilst she was pregnant.
The baby was born with drug dependency and the Mother agreed that she was not in a position to look after the baby at that time. Her older child had also been removed from her care in previous care proceedings and was living with the Grandmother under an SGO.
The Mother agreed to the baby being placed in foster care in the interim whilst the Grandmother was assessed to care for the baby along with the older child already placed with her. The Mother will also address her addiction issues to see if she would be able to care for the baby, within the timescale of the proceedings.
An Interim Care Order was made, with agreement for assessment of the Grandmother to take place.
