Marie represented a Father with significant disabilities, in a care case in respect of his two children.
The Mother is learning disabled. The Father and Mother were presenting as a couple and sought the return of their children to their care. The children were in foster care under an interim care order throughout the proceedings.
The ISW assessed the Parents positively in relation to their ability to provide good enough joint care to the children. The LA and the Guardian, however, opposed the children returning to the Parents’ care, seeking final care orders.
Marie supported and represented the Father through an 8-day contested hearing before a Circuit Judge, at the end of which the Judge returned the children to the care of the Parents and application for final care orders was refused.
