Supporting a Father recently introduced to his biological child

Sandria acted for the Father in a case where a teenage child was removed at parental request as being beyond parental control.

The child had been recently introduced to the biological father – this information had previously been kept from him.

An application was made by solicitor acting for the child for a psychological assessment of the child but this assessment was being opposed by the Local Authority.

Sandria worked with the Father, advising him to support the application and explaining its benefits such as how is could assist with his introduction to the child. Her supportive and understanding approach enabled her to gain her client’s trust, and to advise him to be patient and go along with the pace of the child. She further worked with her client to help him consider and how he may support the child so that a good outcome can be achieved.

The assessment was granted, together with direction for a risk/parenting assessment of the natural Father.
