Use of excessive force

Sophie successfully prosecuted an acting police officer for the use of excessive force amounting to an assault in a two day trial before a District Judge. The case involved questioning several witnesses to the incident who had been intoxicated at the time, lengthy examination of police records and cross examination alongside CCTV evidence.

Due to the public interest in the case, the matter had to be dealt with sensitively with appreciation given to the Defendant’s position within the police. Sophie was able to conduct the matter with upmost professionalism and ensure that a fair trial took place.

Following completion of the trial, the Defendant was sentenced to three months in custody.
