During her pupillage, Emily Jennett (Call 2022) observed and actively assisted counsel in both Family and Civil cases.
Emily accepts instructions in Private Family Law matters, dealing primarily with applications stemming from the Family Law Act, the Children Act and Matrimonial Finance. She has been able to observe a number of private childcare matters with factual bases ranging from contact disputes to allegations of serious abuse, and she also has a particular interest in adoption, having undertaken extensive legal research and written articles on this topic.
Emily already had a background in Public Law Children work before her pupillage, having previously worked as a paralegal for a firm which represented a Local Authority. During her time at Becket Chambers, Emily has developed an in-depth understanding of the principles surrounding public childcare proceedings and is empathetic with clients.
Emily is also developing her Civil Law practice, having observed and assisted with cases relating to landlord and tenant disputes, trusts, road traffic matters, and Equality Act matters.
