Protecting children and retaining the family home

Private Law (Child Arrangements Programme (CAP))

28 November 2023

Corey acted for the mother on an application by the father for a child arrangements order for contact.

The parties had separated in acrimonious circumstances, in which the father had allegedly assaulted both Corey’s client and her older child by a previous relationship. No criminal proceedings were brought against the father by police due to lack of evidence.

Corey advised and represented his vulnerable client throughout the proceedings, in a sensitive and appropriate manner.

Corey successfully opposed the father’s application for direct contact and he was permitted indirect contact only.

In related financial remedy proceedings, Corey also successfully retained for the wife and the children the greater proportion of the former family home.
