Clearing a Mother of allegations of physical harm

Children – Public Law

28 November 2023

Clive represented a Mother at an interim care hearing where there were concerns about his client’s child having suffered significant physical harm.

The Local Authority’s plan was to remove the child to foster care while further investigations were carried out. Clive successfully argued that a family placement would be more appropriate. This sensible approach to the situation enabled the Mother to have extensive periods of contact with her child supervised by close members of her family.

Once necessary medical investigations had been carried out the Mother was cleared of any wrongdoing and she was reunited with her child.
