Grandparents seeking to assist with looking after child who was the subject of care proceedings.

Christopher acted for grandparents in a case where their grandchild was removed from the mother’s care. The mother had particular difficulties arising from the fact that she had been sexually abused as a child. There was a concern that the grandmother had failed to protect her. As the result of the mother’s neglectful parenting the child was placed in foster care.

Christopher successfully argued at an interim hearing that the child should be placed with the grandparents whilst assessments were carried out.

A positive Special Guardianship Order assessment led to the parties all agreeing that the child should remain living with the grandparents.
