Case Summary
Legal Aid funding had only been secured 2 weeks prior to the final hearing in a private law matter. It was clear that the client had not been given a fair opportunity to demonstrate her progress with her alcohol issues. There was also a significant concern in respect of domestic abuse and ongoing contact that had not been adequately addressed.
Result
Nicole successfully reversed several case management decisions to secure an opportunity for her client to build indirect contact to direct contact with her children, demonstrate progress with her alcohol issues and put in place protections from her ex-partner. The matter was re-listed for a DRA and a s.7 report ordered.
